Orioles 4, Yankees 2:
Chris Tillman worked six strong innings and Baltimore clubbed three solo home runs to complete a three-game sweep of visiting New York.

Manny Machado, Chris Davis and Nate McLouth each homered for the Orioles, who have won four straight. Tillman (10-2) allowed a pair of runs on five hits to cap a 6-0 month of June and reach a new career high in wins.

Lyle Overbay led off the top of the ninth with a double and embattled Baltimore closer Jim Johnson hit a batter before retiring two straight to end the game and pick up his 28th save in 33 chances.

Machado got a 2-1 slider up in the zone from Hiroki Kuroda (7-6) in the first inning and blasted it out to left field for his sixth home run. New York got that run back when Brett Gardner drew a bases-loaded walk in the second, but Chris Davis responded in the bottom of the frame with an opposite-field shot to left for his league-leading 31st homer to put the Orioles up for good.

Kuroda served up McLouth’s homer in the third and was charged with four runs on seven hits in six innings to absorb the loss. Robinson Cano added a solo home run for the Yankees, who have lost five straight.

GAME NOTEBOOK: The Orioles acquired OF Eric Thames from the Seattle Mariners in exchange for minor-league INF Ty Kelly. Thames was optioned to Triple-A Norfolk. … Baltimore 2B Brian Roberts (hamstring) was activated off the disabled list and went 1-for-2 with a sacrifice fly while serving as the designated hitter. RHP Jair Jurrjens was designated for assignment to clear a roster spot for Roberts. … Cano’s homer snapped a streak of 11 straight games without an extra-base hit for the All-Star.
