Padres 8, Orioles 4: Kyle Blanks and Alexi Amarista homered while John Baker added a two-run single as San Diego finished up a two-game sweep in Baltimore.
Everth Cabrera went 4-for-5 with an RBI while Will Venable and Carlos Quentin added run-scoring hits for the Padres, who produced a season high-tying 17 hits against Freddy Garcia (0-2) and four relievers. Jason Marquis (5-2) allowed two runs in five innings to win his fourth straight start.
Making his third start for Baltimore, Garcia was reached for four runs in 3 2/3 innings. J.J. Hardy and Matt Wieters hit solo homers for the Orioles.
After Marquis escaped a bases-loaded jam in the first, Baker gave San Diego a 2-0 lead with his base hit in the second. Hardy halved Baltimore's deficit with his seventh home run in the bottom half, but Blanks went deep off Garcia in the fourth and Venable greeted reliever T.J. McFarland with an RBI double later in the frame to make it 4-1.
Following Wieters’ blast in the fourth, Quentin made it 5-2 when his bloop to right in the sixth was lost in the sun by second baseman Ryan Flaherty. Amarista, who had three hits and scored three times, slugged a two-run shot in the seventh to open it up.
