Recap

Orioles 7, Athletics 3: Nick Markakis and Adam Jones hit back-to-back home runs and Chris Tillman worked six strong innings as visiting Baltimore took its third straight from Oakland.

Nate McLouth added a solo homer and J.J. Hardy drove in a run for the Orioles, who have won five of their last six and will go for a four-game sweep of the Athletics on Sunday. Tillman (1-1) struck out seven while allowing two runs and seven hits to pick up his first win.

Josh Donaldson drove in two runs for Oakland but A.J. Griffin (2-2) could not hold the lead and was charged with four runs and five hits in seven innings. The A’s, who loaded the bases with none out in the ninth but could not score, have dropped four straight and eight of nine.

Donaldson doubled in a run in the second and added an RBI single in the third before Baltimore’s offense came alive in the fourth. Griffin limited the Orioles to a bunt single in the first three innings but walked Manny Machado to lead off the fourth before Markakis tied it with a two-run blast to right-center.

Jones followed with a solo shot and Hardy singled in a run later in the inning to make it 4-2. McLouth greeted reliever Jerry Blevins with a home run to lead off the eighth and added an RBI single in the ninth before closer Jim Johnson came on in the bottom of the frame to get the flyout and double play that earned him a 10th save.
