Rangers 7, Padres 3: Josh Hamilton made his return to the starting lineup with two hits, including a two-run triple, and Scott Feldman snapped a six-start skid as visiting Texas clinched the interleague series with San Diego.

Nelson Cruz added a two-run double and Feldman helped himself with an RBI single for the Rangers, who have won five straight and improved to 11-3 in interleague play.

Hamilton was hospitalized over the weekend with a stomach virus and was limited to late-inning work as a defensive replacement in the series opener on Monday. The MVP candidate looked well rested on Tuesday, taking a 1-2 fastball from Edinson Volquez in the third and sending it into the right-center field gap to give Texas a 2-1 lead.

Feldman (1-6) had posted  a 7.36 ERA in losing six straight starts but fared better against the light-hitting Padres, allowing two runs and seven hits in six innings while striking out five and not walking a batter.

Volquez (3-7), who came up with the Rangers before being shipped to Cincinnati in the Hamilton trade, was knocked around for six runs and five hits by his former team. He walked four and struck out six in five-plus innings.

Texas put it away with a three-run sixth, as Cruz chased Volquez with his RBI double and came in to score later in the frame on Feldman’s single.

Adrian Beltre hit a solo home run in the seventh that was held up upon review, extending the lead to 7-2.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Nick Hundley and Yonder Alonso each drove in a run for San Diego, which has dropped four of five. … Padres RF Carlos Quentin went 0-for-4 with three strikeouts, dropping his average under .400 to .373 for the first time since after his season debut on May 27. … Texas 1B Mitch Moreland left the game in the second inning after suffering a left hamstring strain. He is day-to-day. … The Rangers will go for the sweep on Wednesday behind Yu Darvish. The Padres will counter with Anthony Bass.
