Rockies 9, Padres 1: Tyler Colvin homered and drove in three runs while Dexter Fowler hit a grand slam in his return to the lineup as host Colorado handed San Diego just its second loss in 12 games.
Wilin Rosario opened the scoring with an RBI single in the first inning and Colvin led off the second with his 16th blast, a line drive over the wall in right field. Colvin gave Colorado a 4-0 lead in the fifth with a two-run double down the left-field line and scored two batters later on Chris Nelson's single.
Fowler, who was kept out of the starting lineup for five games due to a sore right ankle, went 0-for-4 in his return before belting his first career grand slam in the eighth off Miles Mikolas to put away the game.
Josh Rutledge collected three hits for the Rockies, who have won 13 of 19.
Jhoulys Chacin (2-4) continued his solid pitching since returning from a chest injury, allowing one run and five hits over seven innings. The right-hander, who walked two and struck out four, yielded a total of two runs in 11 frames over his previous two starts.
Edinson Volquez (9-10) lasted only 4 2/3 innings as he surrendered five runs and nine hits. The 29-year-old gave up just three earned runs over 11 1/3 frames in two wins over Colorado earlier this year.
Will Venable hit his ninth homer for the Padres, who have not won four in a row at Coors Field since 2001.
