Recap

Rockies 2, Dodgers 0: Eric Young Jr. had three hits and scored two runs as visiting Colorado recorded just its second shutout this season.

Drew Pomeranz struck out seven over four innings, Adam Ottavino (3-1) and Matt Belisle followed with four scoreless innings and Rafael Betancourt worked a perfect ninth for his 18th save.

Chris Capuano (10-8) was the hard-luck loser after allowing two runs on nine hits over seven innings. The Dodgers remained one-half game behind National League West-leading San Francisco, which lost 8-2 to St. Louis.

The Rockies, who won for only the fifth time in their last 21 games, grabbed an early lead when Young singled to lead off the game and scored on Carlos Gonzalez’s sacrifice fly.

Young triggered another Colorado run in the third when he singled with one out and came around to score on Jordan Pacheco’s single to center field.

Rockies manager Jim Tracy was ejected for the second time this season with one on and two outs in the bottom of the seventh inning for arguing a trapped-ball call off the bat of Shane Victorino.

Umpires initially ruled that center fielder Dexter Fowler made the catch, but they reversed the call after Dodgers manager Don Mattingly contested the ruling.

Colorado was coming off a 1-8 homestand during which it allowed seven or more runs seven times, but the Rockies held the Dodgers to five hits. Los Angeles went 0-for-8 with runners in scoring position.
