Miguel Olivo belted a two-run homer just inside the left-field foul pole in the eighth inning and Justin Smoak collected three hits. Casper Wells added an RBI double for the Mariners, who posted their fourth win in 13 games.
David Murphy capped a three-RBI performance with a line-drive homer in the sixth inning for the Rangers, who remained four games ahead of Oakland in the American League West. The Athletics dropped a 2-1 decision in 10 innings to the New York Yankees on Friday.
Playing in his fifth career contest, Triunfel chopped an RBI double to left field off Martin Perez (1-2) as Wells raced around from first to give Seattle a 3-2 lead. Triunfel provided an insurance run two batters later after third baseman Michael Young failed to come up with a hard-hit ball.
Iwakuma (7-5) allowed three runs on eight hits and struck out four to secure his first win in four appearances versus Texas. Stephen Prior worked a scoreless eighth inning before Tom Wilhelmsen retired the side in the ninth for his 28th save.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Texas OF Josh Hamilton, who sat out his third game with vision and recurring sinus problems, will miss the remainder of the weekend series. Manager Ron Washington admitted that Hamilton was "out of sorts" during Thursday's pre-game fielding drills. ... Seattle 2B Dustin Ackley exited the game with neck stiffness. ... Perez, who was making his first start since being recalled from Triple-A Round Rock, yielded four runs on six hits in four innings to take the loss.
