Mariners 10, Rockies 3: Kyle Seager went 3-for-4 with a two-run homer and three RBIs and Jason Vargas pitched six shutout innings before faltering in the seventh as visiting Seattle reached a season high for runs to defeat Colorado for the second straight game.
Dustin Ackley delivered a two-run double and Casper Wells followed with a two-run single as the Mariners blew the game open with four runs in the sixth inning. Jesus Montero added three hits for Seattle, which won back-to-back games for the first time since winning three straight from May 5-7.
Vargas (5-3), who improved to 5-2 in his last eight interleague starts, allowed three runs and five hits in seven innings and added an RBI single.
Colorado rookie left-hander Christian Friedrich (1-1) was roughed up for eight runs on nine hits and walked four over five-plus innings in his third career start. His ERA rose from 1.38 to 5.00.
Seager, who had two RBIs in Friday’s 4-0 victory, put the Mariners on top 2-0 in the second and Seattle doubled its lead on consecutive RBI singles by Montero and Seager in the third. Vargas’ run-scoring hit came in the fifth.
Wilin Rosario hit a two-run homer in the seventh for Colorado.
