Recap

Angels 5, Rangers 4 (Game 1): Torii Hunter ripped a two-out, two-run double in the top of the ninth as visiting Los Angeles took the first game of a doubleheader.

Rookie Mike Trout, 21, became the youngest player in Major League Baseball history to join the 30-homer, 30-stolen base club. Trout went deep for the second straight contest and Albert Pujols added a two-out RBI single for the Angels.

Nelson Cruz belted a two-run homer and Adrian Beltre had an RBI double among his two hits for the Rangers.

With Joe Nathan (3-5) attempting to secure his 37th save, Hunter drove an offering into the gap in left-center field to plate Maicer Izturis and Peter Bourjos.

The late uprising gave Garrett Richards (4-3) the victory after retiring his lone batter. Ernesto Frieri worked a clean ninth inning for his 23rd save.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Cruz, who went 1-for-4, has six hits and five RBIs in his last three contests. ... Texas reliever Mike Adams has been diagnosed with Thoracic Outlet Syndrome. Adams is expected to be sidelined for 7-10 days. ... After throwing out Trout at third base in the first inning, Cruz continued his stellar day by depositing an offering from Zack Greinke over the wall in left field for his 24th homer - and second in as many games.
