Recap

Angels 8, Athletics 3:
Chris Iannetta hit a two-run homer among his three hits and C.J. Wilson won his second straight start as Los Angeles stopped host Oakland's nine-game winning streak.

Torii Hunter and Vernon Wells added solo shots and two RBIs apiece for the Angels, who have won six of their last seven games and remain 3 1/2 games behind Baltimore for the final wild card spot.

Josh Donaldson and Chris Carter homered for the Athletics, who fell four games behind Texas in the American League West. Oakland, which leads the AL wild card race, saw their margin over Tampa Bay shrink to 2 1/2 games.

Wilson (11-9), who was 0-5 in 11 starts prior to his last two outings, allowed two runs and five hits in five innings to improve to 2-2 against the Athletics this season.

Tommy Milone (11-10) had his two-start winning streak snapped and fell to 2-1 against Los Angeles in 2012. He allowed five runs and 10 hits in three-plus innings.

After Wells and Iannetta delivered RBI singles in the second inning, Hunter, who is hitting .357 since the All-Star break, took Milone deep in the third.

Wells' homer gave the Angels a 5-0 lead in the fourth inning and Iannetta's blast came off reliever Pedro Figueroa in the seventh to make it 7-2. Hunter added a sacrifice fly later in the frame.

Josh Reddick had an RBI single in the fourth inning, but after Donaldson's leadoff homer in the fifth, the Athletics loaded the bases with two outs before Reddick popped out.
