Recap

Angels 15, Rangers 8:
Kendrys Morales homered twice and drove in six runs during a nine-run sixth inning, helping Los Angeles open a four-game series in Texas with a lopsided win.

Morales opened the decisive frame with a two-run blast to right field against Roy Oswalt (3-2), giving the Angels a 5-3 lead. Bobby Wilson singled in a run with the bases loaded and rookie Mike Trout followed with a two-run single before Morales came back up and put the game away with a grand slam against reliever Robbie Ross.

Trout was 2-for-5 with a home run, three runs scored and four RBIs for Los Angeles, which moved to within four games of the first-place Rangers in the American League West. Maicer Izturis added three hits, one of which was a solo home run in the second inning.

Ervin Santana (5-10) got the win for Los Angeles, giving up three runs on four hits in five innings of work. Jerome Williams picked up a rare four-inning save despite allowing five runs.

Josh Hamilton hit a solo homer in the fourth inning for Texas, while Nelson Cruz had a two-run shot in the seventh and Mike Napoli tacked on a solo home run in the eighth.

Michael Young had two sacrifice flies for the Rangers. Cruz knocked in the final Texas run with a two-out RBI double in the ninth inning.

Oswalt was charged with eight runs on 11 hits in 5 1/3 innings.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Morales became the third player in major-league history to homer from both sides of the plate in the same inning, joining Mark Bellhorn and Carlos Baerga ... The grand slam was the second of Morales' career ... Hamilton, who also doubled, had two extra-base hits in a game for the first time since May 30 ... Los Angeles is expected to scratch Wednesday's scheduled starter, Dan Haren, and pitch Garret Richards in his place. Haren is experiencing back stiffness.
