Capuano was staked to a 2-0 lead before ever taking the mound thanks to miscues by the Angels' defense. Dee Gordon led off the game with a single and stole second before scoring on first baseman Albert Pujols' throwing error.
Jerry Hairston Jr., who hit the ball Pujols threw away, crossed the plate later in the first on another throwing error by third baseman Maicer Izturis. Hairston delivered an infield single in the sixth that scored Gordon, who opened the frame with a triple.
Ronald Belisario worked out of a jam in the eighth and Kenley Jansen pitched a perfect ninth for his 12th save in 15 chances.
Angels starter Ervin Santana (4-8) worked eight solid innings, yielding three runs - two earned - and four hits. He suffered his second loss in six decisions despite registering a season high-tying 10 strikeouts.
Erick Aybar recorded two hits and an RBI for the Angels, who fell to 5-3 on their nine-game homestand.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Aybar continued his torrid hitting during interleague play, going 2-for-3. The shortstop is hitting .418 (28-for-67) with 10 extra-base hits and nine RBIs against the National League this season. ... Gordon had two of the Dodgers' four hits. Hitters four through nine in the lineup were 0-for-20. ... The Angels are not in the running to acquire Boston 3B Kevin Youkilis, according to general manager Jerry Dipoto. A number of teams are rumored to be interested in trading for Youkilis, but Dipoto said his club is "not involved" in any talks with the Red Sox.
