Brewers 3, Pirates 2:
Corey Hart hit a walk-off solo homer in the bottom of the ninth as surging Milwaukee stunned Pittsburgh.

Leading off the ninth against Pirates closer Joel Hanrahan (4-1), Hart looked at a called first strike before turning on a slider and sending it on a line over the wall in left-center. The Brewers have won 10 of 12 to pull within four games of .500 at 64-68.

Pittsburgh, which dropped Friday’s series opener as well, wasted a bases-loaded opportunity in the top of the ninth and fell 1 1/2 games behind the St. Louis Cardinals in the National League wild card race.

John Axford (5-7) picked up the win in relief for Milwaukee.

Pittsburgh starter A.J. Burnett took a no-hitter into the sixth inning before Rickie Weeks broke it up with a two-out single. The right-hander was not on track for a shutout, however, having allowed a run in the third when Carlos Gomez walked, stole second and third and scored on a wild pitch.

The Pirates had struck first in the second inning on Pedro Alvarez’s 27th home run, an opposite-field line drive solo shot into the bullpen in left center.

Gomez put the Brewers ahead 2-1 in the seventh inning. With Hart on second base following a walk and a groundout, Gomez doubled into the gap in left-center.

Pittsburgh got that run back in the top of the eighth on Andrew McCutchen’s RBI single off Jim Henderson.

Burnett lasted 6 2/3 innings and was charged with two runs on two hits while walking four and striking out nine.

Milwaukee starter Marco Estrada was even better, surrendering one run on four hits in seven innings while walking one and striking out 10.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Pittsburgh will slot LHP Jeff Locke and RHP Kevin Correia into the starting rotation next week. … The Pirates recalled five players for the stretch run: Locke, LHP Justin Wilson, C Eric Fryer, INF Brock Holt and RHP Chris Leroux. … The Brewers shut down RHP Mark Rogers, who got the win on Friday. Rogers had made 25 starts between Milwaukee and Triple-A Nashville. … Alvarez extended his hitting streak to seven games but had his run of four multi-hit games come to an end with a 1-for-4 effort.
