Recap
Diamondbacks 8, Brewers 5: John McDonald hit a three-run homer and host Arizona roughed up Milwaukee ace Zack Greinke.
Gerardo Parra reached base five times on a career high-tying four hits and a walk as the Diamondbacks won for only the seventh time in 20 games.
McDonald slammed a hanging slider over the left-field fence to cap a five-run third inning as the Diamondbacks bombarded Greinke (5-2), who lasted only 2 1/3 innings and allowed seven runs and 10 hits.
Wade Miley (6-1) gave up five runs – three earned – and eight hits in six innings and also had two of Arizona’s 15 hits.
J.J. Putz recorded the final three outs for his 10th save.
The Brewers pushed across four third-inning runs to take a 5-2 lead. Cody Ransom, released by Arizona earlier this week, had the big hit with a two-run double.
The Diamondbacks got two back on a bases-loaded walk to Ryan Roberts and Konrad Schmidt’s fielder’s choice prior to McDonald’s second homer of the campaign.
Arizona added a run in the seventh when Parra doubled and scored on Aaron Hill’s bloop single down the right-field line.
Milwaukee’s Jonathan Lucroy had a run-scoring single in the first for his 23rd RBI of the month.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Diamondbacks catcher Miguel Montero (groin) missed his fourth consecutive contest. … Lucroy is batting .375 on the road this season. … Miley has a seven-game hitting streak and his fifth-inning double was nearly his first career homer. … Brewers third baseman Aramis Ramirez (left elbow) sat out after being hit by a pitch in Friday’s game.
