Recap

Cardinals 9, Brewers 3: Shane Robinson and Carlos Beltran both homered as St. Louis coasted to victory at Milwaukee in the rubber game of their National League Championship Series rematch.

Beltran and Robinson each finished with three of the Cardinals’ 14 hits. Beltran smacked a two-run blast off Marco Estrada with nobody out in the seventh to make it a 5-1 games, and Robinson put an exclamation point on the afternoon with his first major league home run, a three-run shot in the top of the ninth.

Rafael Furcal, who also finished with three hits, put St. Louis on top to stay in the first inning when he scored on a double by Matt Holliday. The shortstop made it 2-0 with an RBI single in the fourth and also scored again on an eighth-inning base hit by Tyler Greene.

Lance Lynn (1-0) worked 6 2/3 solid innings for the win, striking out eight and walking one while allowing one run on just two hits. Milwaukee starter Randy Wolf (0-1) took the loss, giving up three runs on nine hits in five innings. He struck out seven and walked one.

Corey Hart, who hit two home runs in Saturday’s Milwaukee victory, hit another solo shot Sunday with one out in the fifth inning. Ryan Braun added a homer in the bottom of the ninth to cap the scoring.

GAME NOTEBOOK:
World Series MVP David Freese had an RBI single in the fifth inning for St. Louis, but fell short of a fourth straight multi-hit game to open the year. ... Lynn was making just the third start of his career, filling in for the injured Chris Carpenter. ... Including relief appearances last season, Lynn has now allowed just one run in 9 1/3 career innings against the Brewers.
