With one out in the fifth, Jay singled in Rafael Furcal and took second on the throw home. After advancing to third on Matt Carpenter’s groundout, Jay scored on a short-hop pitch by Norris. Jay is 8-for-18 in his last three games.

Allen Craig extended his hitting streak to 11 games with a second-inning single and scored on Daniel Descalso’s double to forge a 1-1 tie. With St. Louis up 3-2 in the eighth, Yadier Molina singled home Matt Holliday for a two-run lead.

Mitchell Boggs pitched a scoreless eighth and Jason Motte tossed a perfect ninth for his 29th save.
