Recap
Rockies 6, Reds 3: Todd Helton homered and had three RBIs as visiting Colorado halted Cincinnati’s six-game winning streak.
Helton hit a two-run homer in the second inning and his fifth-inning single snapped a 3-3 tie as the Rockies won their second consecutive contest.
Joey Votto went 4-for-4 for Cincinnati, which was looking to win seven straight for the first time since the 2010 campaign.
Colorado racked up 13 hits, 11 of them against Reds ace Johnny Cueto (5-2) over the first 4 2/3 innings.
The Rockies led 3-0 after a run-scoring bloop single by Eric Young Jr. in the fourth before Cincinnati struck for three runs in the bottom of the inning. Ryan Ludwick doubled home the first run and Todd Frazier followed with a two-run double into the left-field corner.
After Helton drove in the tiebreaking run in the fifth, Jordan Pacheco blistered a run-scoring double inside the third-base line to drive in Troy Tulowitzki and finish Cueto’s night.
Tulowitzki added a run-scoring single to center in the ninth to give the Rockies a three-run advantage.
Rafael Betancourt pitched a perfect ninth for his eighth save in nine opportunities.
Colorado starter Christian Friedrich (2-1) struck out six in five innings. He allowed three runs and seven hits.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Helton’s homer was his first since April 29th against the New York Mets … The four-hit game was Votto’s third of the season … Tulowitzki went 3-for-4 for his fourth multihit outing in 10 games … Cueto has allowed 12 earned runs in his last three starts after giving up just six in his first seven outings.
