Recap

Reds 5, Pirates 0: Mat Latos struck out 11 hitters in six strong innings, and home runs from Todd Frazier and Drew Stubbs led Cincinnati to its fifth victory in seven games.

The Reds won the rubber game of the three-game set at PNC Park thanks in large part to Latos (2-2). The right-hander gave up just two hits and walked three while setting a career high in strikeouts.

Latos allowed singles to Neil Walker in the third and Nate McLouth in the fourth. He struck out three of the final four hitters he faced.

Cincinnati gradually built its lead, scoring runs in four of the first five innings. Frazier hit his first homer of the season in the second, a solo shot to left. In the third, Stubbs hit his third of the season, a two-run homer to center.

Stubbs finished 3-for-4 with three runs scored, two RBIs and a stolen base.

The Reds scored in the first on Joey Votto’s single to center and in the fifth on Brandon Phillips’ sacrifice fly to center.

Pittsburgh starter and loser Charlie Morton (1-3) gave up seven hits and five runs (four earned) in six innings, walking two and striking out five. The Pirates lost for the fourth time in six games.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Still feeling the effects of stomach flu, Pittsburgh center fielder Andrew McCutchen did not start Sunday. … Cincinnati relievers J.J. Hoover and Aroldis Chapman each struck out two hitters. … The Pirates scored four runs in the three-game series. ... Stubbs went 6-for-12 with two homers and a double in the series.
