Rangers 9, Twins 3: Ian Kinsler homered and had four RBIs and Mitch Moreland slammed a three-run homer as host Texas beat Minnesota for the third straight day.
Kinsler led off the first with a homer and delivered a three-run triple in the third against Brian Duensing (3-9) as the Rangers maintained their six-game American League West lead over the Oakland Athletics.
Ryan Dempster (3-1) struck out seven in six innings while winning his second straight start. He gave up two runs and eight hits as Texas won its fourth straight game and improved to 8-1 against the Twins this season.
Minnesota has lost five straight and 14 of its last 16 contests.
Geovany Soto and Craig Gentry singled prior to Moreland’s blast in the second to stake the Rangers to a 5-0 lead.
Soto had a run-scoring single in the third before Kinsler cleared the bases with his fourth triple of the season to give Texas a nine-run lead.
Justin Morneau, who went 4-for-4, homered in the fourth to get the Twins on the board. Pedro Florimon had a run-scoring single in the fifth and Joe Mauer had a run-scoring double in the seventh.
Duensing allowed a career-worst nine runs in 2 1/3 innings. He gave up for 10 hits.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Rangers RHP Yu Darvish (quadriceps) threw a bullpen session prior to Saturday’s game and is expected to start against Tampa Bay on Tuesday. Darvish was scratched from his last start. … Minnesota OF Ben Revere stole his 30th base to become the fourth player in Twins history with 30 steals in back-to-back seasons. … Texas INF Michael Young was away from the team for the second straight day after the birth of a son. … Twins OF Josh Willingham went 0-for-4 after missing the previous two games with a stiff neck. … Texas 3B Adrian Beltre was hitless in four at-bats after hitting for the cycle Friday and slamming five homers in three games.
