Recap

Rangers 4, Twins 3 (10): Nelson Cruz delivered a run-scoring double with none out in the bottom of the 10th inning as Texas snapped a season-high five-game losing streak.

After Adrian Beltre's third hit of the night - a single leading off the 10th inning against Minnesota's Kyle Waldrop (0-1) - Cruz delivered his third hit, a shot to deep left field on an 0-2 pitch.

All-Stars Josh Hamilton and Beltre homered for the Rangers, who stranded five runners in the seventh and eight innings.

Josh Willingham went deep for the Twins, who had won six of their last eight games.

Texas closer Joe Nathan (1-2) earned the victory after pitching two innings for the first time since Aug. 21, 2009.

The Twins’ Samuel Deduno allowed three runs, six hits, walked three and struck out three in 5 1/3 innings in his first major league start.

The Rangers’ Derek Holland, who was making his first start since June 5, allowed three runs and six hits in six innings.

Hamilton, the leading vote-getter for Tuesday’s All-Star Game, served as the designated hitter. He left Friday’s game in the fifth inning because of back spasms after playing the outfield.

Minnesota took a 2-0 lead in the second inning on Trevor Plouffe’s RBI groundout and Brian Dozier’s run-scoring single.

Texas cut the lead in half on Cruz’s RBI double in the bottom half and tied the game 2-2 when Hamilton connected for an opposite-field shot for his 27th homer to lead off the fourth.

After Willingham gave the Twins a 3-2 lead with his 19th homer in the sixth inning, Beltre answered in the bottom half with his 15th.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Deduno was the 11th different starter used by the Twins, an American League high. Only the San Diego Padres (13) have used more while the Colorado Rockies have also used 11. … Hamilton, who leads the major leagues with 75 RBIs, shares the home run lead with Toronto’s Jose Bautista. … Home plate umpire Marty Foster left the game in the seventh inning because of illness and was replaced by second base umpire Jeff Kellogg.
