Recap

Pirates 7, Twins 2: Josh Harrison and Andrew McCutchen both homered as part of three-hit performances and Kevin Correia pitched shutout ball into the sixth inning as Pittsburgh cruised past visiting Minnesota.

Correia (3-6) continued his run of recent success, limiting the Twins to four hits over 5 1/3 innings with one walk and two strikeouts. The veteran right-hander is 2-1 over his last five starts and has surrendered more than three earned runs just once in that span.

Harrison and McCutchen took care of the offensive burden, combining for four runs scored, three RBIs and three steals as the Pirates earned their third straight win.

Harrison put the Pirates ahead with a second-inning blast to left field off Twins starter Scott Diamond (5-3), his first home run since May 16.  Pittsburgh threatened to add to the lead later in the frame, but Diamond escaped a bases-loaded jam by getting Rod Barajas to ground out to second.

Pittsburgh extended the lead in the fifth after Harrison hit a one-out single, promptly stole second and then swiped third as part of a double steal after McCutchen drew a walk. Harrison scored on a Casey McGehee sacrifice fly.

The Pirates padded the advantage in the sixth on a Clint Barmes RBI double - chasing Diamond from the game - and a Matt Hague run-scoring groundout.

The Twins finally broke their goose-egg in the top of the seventh as Denard Span drilled a Juan Cruz offering deep to right field with Jamey Carroll aboard.

McCutchen restored the four-run edge with a two-run shot to left off Twins reliever Jeff Manship after Harrison had opened the inning with an infield single. The Pirates tacked on another run when Neil Walker drew a walk, went to third on a Pedro Alvarez double and scored on a Barajas sacrifice fly.

Diamond was tagged for four runs on eight hits over 5 1/3 frames.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Minnesota was without star C Joe Mauer, who sat out with a quad injury suffered Sunday against the Milwaukee Brewers. The Twins hope he will be healthy enough to return for Wednesday's game. ... Twins 3B Trevor Plouffe went 2-for-3 but is homerless in his last three games after going deep seven times in a seven-game span. ... Barmes also had three hits for the Pirates.
