Recap

Rangers 8, Royals 4:
Geovany Soto did the most damage with his three-run homer as visiting Texas left the yard five times and won for the 12th time in its last 16 games.

Michael Young tacked on a two-run homer in the ninth and Josh Hamilton, Adrian Beltre and Nelson Cruz each added a solo blast for the Rangers, who increased their lead to four games over the Oakland Athletics in the American League West.

Yu Darvish (14-9) took a perfect game into the sixth inning and ended up allowing three runs on three hits and a walk in seven innings. The Japanese right-hander struck out six in his fourth straight quality start.

Texas began its home run assault against Kansas City starter Bruce Chen in the second inning. Cruz and David Murphy reached on a walk and a two-out hit in front of Soto, who drove a flat changeup into the front row in left-center for his third homer since joining the Rangers.

Hamilton connected for major league-leading 38th blast in the third, bouncing it off the concourse and into the fountains in right-center. The Chicago White Sox's Adam Dunn also has 38 homers.

Beltre and Cruz went back-to-back in the sixth. Beltre’s 28th came on a high fastball and ended up in the bullpen before Cruz went even farther, sending it well beyond the same bullpen in left-center.

Chen (10-11) ended up going six innings and was charged with six runs on six hits while walking one and striking out five.

Young finished the home barrage against Louis Coleman in the ninth.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Rangers 2B Ian Kinsler (back) returned to the lineup and went 1-for-5. Kinsler had taken the day off Sunday, when rookie Jurickson Profar took over and homered in his first career at-bat. … Texas is 26 games over .500 for the first time this season. … Cruz was hit by a pitch in the ninth inning, possibly in retaliation for a slow home run trot in the sixth. Young was the next batter and homered, ending Coleman’s day. … Tony Abreu drove in three runs for the Royals and has nine RBIs in his last five games.
