Recap

Angels 7, Tigers 2: Doug Fister tossed eight sensational innings and Prince Fielder's two-run single highlighed a four-run second inning as host Detroit cruised past Los Angeles.

Fister (4-6) limited the vaunted Angels' offense to a run and two hits while striking out a season-high 10 batters. It is the third straight victory for the veteran right-hander, who has surrendered just two runs on five hits over his last 15 frames.

Fielder and the Tigers made quick work of Angels starter C.J. Wilson (9-6), tagging him for five earned runs over the first two innings - more than he had allowed in any game this season. Wilson battled through seven frames, charged with seven runs on eight hits while walking five and striking out seven.

Brennan Boesch added a two-run double while Miguel Cabrera scored twice and drove in a run as the Tigers won for the ninth time in 11 games.

Angels slugger Albert Pujols belted a first-inning solo homer in defeat. It was the 462nd of his career, tying him with Jose Canseco for 32nd on the all-time list.

The Tigers loaded the bases with nobody out in the pivotal second inning and went ahead for good on a Ryan Raburn infield single. Cabrera's RBI groundout made it 3-1 and Fielder followed with a sharp liner up the middle that Wilson nearly snared.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Wilson hadn't allowed more than four earned runs in a game since yielding six to the Tigers in last year's American League Championship Series as a member of the Texas Rangers. ... Angels OF Mike Trout tripled and scored in the ninth inning, extending his streak of games with at least one run to 10. ... Cabrera has 10 RBIs in his last 11 games and 75 on the season, good for second in the American League behind Rangers OF Josh Hamilton (78).
