Recap

Rangers 13, Tigers 9: David Murphy belted two homers and matched a career high with five RBIs and Ian Kinsler went deep for the second consecutive game as host Texas recorded its sixth straight series victory.

After Adrian Beltre scored on Miguel Cabrera's throwing error in the second inning, Murphy deposited an 0-2 inside fastball from Doug Fister (1-5) into the right-center field seats for a three-run homer.

Murphy gave the Rangers a 5-2 lead in the fourth inning by launching a first-pitch fastball from Fister over the wall in right-center for his ninth homer. Murphy added an RBI single in the fifth and Leonys Martin ripped a two-run triple to propel Texas to its 10th win in 12 outings.

The offensive explosion provided a comfortable cushion for Roy Oswalt (2-0), who labored through six innings. The veteran hurler allowed five runs and 13 of Detroit's season high-tying 17 hits.

Austin Jackson, Delmon Young and Alex Avila pulled the Tigers within two at 11-9 with RBI singles in a four-run eighth inning, but Detroit couldn't complete the comeback. The Tigers dropped their second straight series after winning their previous four.

Quintin Berry ripped an RBI triple and Jhonny Peralta had a two-run double, but Detroit could not overcome a brutal start from Fister. He permitted nine runs on as many hits in 4 1/3 innings to fall to 0-4 on the road this season.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Beltre went 3-for-5 with an RBI double to extend his hitting streak to eight games. He finished the series by going 7-for-13. ... Murphy also had five RBIs in an 11-5 win over Kansas City on June 11, 2008. ... After belting homers in back-to-back games, Josh Hamilton went 0-for-4 with four strikeouts.
