Bartolo Colon (3-3) bore the brunt of the onslaught as he was charged for eight runs on nine hits in 2 1/3 innings.
Former Tiger Brandon Inge belted his second grand slam in three contests and Kila Ka'aihue launched a two-run homer for the Athletics, who fell for the third time in eight games.
With Oakland holding a 2-1 edge entering the third inning, Cabrera tied the contest by slapping an RBI double into the corner in right field. The Athletics committed a pair of errors to compound their problems before Alex Avila, Brennan Boesch and Ramon Santiago added run-scoring doubles. Cabrera's RBI single capped the eight-run, eight-hit inning.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Oakland center fielder Yoenis Cespedes sat out his third consecutive contest with a strained left hand. The Cuban rookie leads the team with 21 RBIs. ...
