Recap

Mariners 3, Tigers 2: Seattle capitalized on Octavio Dotel’s wildness and John Jaso's sacrifice fly capped a three-run uprising in the bottom of the ninth as the Mariners won their third straight game.

Dotel (1-1) opened the bottom of the ninth with back-to-back walks before throwing a wild pitch that advanced the runners. Brendan Ryan scored on a passed ball before Jesus Montero doubled off the center-field fence to bring in the tying run.

Jaso drove in the winning run when his fly ball off Duane Below scored pinch runner Munenori Kawasaki, giving Seattle their fifth consecutive win over Detroit.

Steve Delabar (1-0) earned the win after retiring the Tigers in order in the top of the ninth.

The loss spoiled a quality outing for the Tigers' Doug Fister, who threw seven scoreless innings against his former team. Fister gave up four hits with no walks and three strikeouts in his first start since injuring his ribs against Boston on April 7.

The Tigers grabbed an early lead on Prince Fielder’s RBI double in the top of the first off Blake Beavan, who left the game after three innings with a right elbow contusion.

Hisashi Iwakuma worked three innings in relief of Beaven, giving up Brennan Boesch’s run-scoring single in the fourth inning.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Tigers closer Jose Valverde was unavailable after pitching three straight days... Seattle improved to 3-11 when trailing after eight innings…The Tigers have scored three or fewer runs in 15 of their 28 games…Beavan was hit by a comebacker off the bat of Miguel Cabrera on a double-play ball which ended the third inning … Iwakuma struck out his first four batters and had five over three innings…Fister was traded by Seattle to the Tigers last July.
