Recap

Indians 3, Tigers 2: Asdrubal Cabrera knocked in two runs, including the go-ahead sacrifice fly in the seventh, and Corey Kluber earned his first major league victory as Cleveland ended an eight-game road losing streak.

Cabrera, who was 1-for-20 in his previous seven games, and Jason Kipnis each had a pair of singles for the Indians. Lou Marson singled off losing pitcher Darin Downs (1-1), stole second, moved to third on Kipnis’ single and scored on Cabrera’s fly ball to center field for the 3-2 lead.

Kluber (1-3) went six innings, giving up six hits and two runs. He struck out four and walked only one. Vinnie Pestano earned his second save.

Delmon Young remained hot with two hits and an RBI for the Tigers, who fell one game behind Chicago in the American League Central after sweeping the White Sox over the weekend. Young has a nine-game hitting streak and is 15-for-34 with four homers and 12 RBIs during that span.

The Indians used miscues by Tigers catcher Alex Avila to take a 2-1 lead after three innings. Kipnis singled and later scored on a passed ball in the first. Shin-Soo Choo singled, stole second, moved to third on Avila’s throwing error and scored on Cabrera’s RBI single in the third.

Jhonny Peralta singled in Young in the fourth to tie the game 2-2.

Detroit starter Anibal Sanchez allowed eight hits and two runs – both unearned – over six innings.
