Recap

Athletics 12, Indians 7: Josh Reddick had three hits and three RBIs and was among four Oakland players to homer as the visiting Athletics completed a four-game sweep of reeling Cleveland.

Cliff Pennington hit a two-run homer and Coco Crisp and Josh Donaldson added solo shots to help Oakland extend its winning streak to six games and maintain its one-game lead over Baltimore atop the American League wild card race.

George Kottaras contributed a three-run double in a five-run fourth inning as the surging Athletics won for the 12th time in 14 games and made it eight straight victories over the Indians.

Jarrod Parker (9-7) survived five-plus shaky innings, yielding five runs on eight hits, as Oakland handed Cleveland its fifth consecutive loss and 14th defeat in 15 games.

Indians right-hander Justin Masterson (10-12) was pounded by the Athletics for the second time in 12 days, allowing eight runs and a season-high three homers in four-plus innings.

Shin-Soo Choo drove in three runs and Jason Kipnis homered and had two RBIs for the Indians, who fell to a woeful 5-23 in August with one game left in the month.

Kottaras' bases-clearing double and Pennington's two-run shot made it 6-1 before Reddick hit a two-run homer in the fifth and added a sacrifice fly in the sixth for a 10-3 lead.

Indians C Carlos Santana was at DH Thursday, one day after he was pulled from a game for his lack of hustle. ... Indians pitching coach Ruben Niebla was ejected in the seventh for arguing balls and strikes. ... The Athletics head home to open a three-game series with the Boston Red Sox while Cleveland continues its 10-game homestand by hosting Texas for a three-game set.
