Recap

Royals 8, Indians 2: Mike Moustakas homered and had a career-best four RBIs and rookie Will Smith earned his first major league victory for visiting Kansas City.

Moustakas hit a two-run shot in the first inning - his eighth - and thought he had a three-run blast in the second, only to have it ruled foul. He ripped a two-run single instead that put the Royals ahead 7-2.

Smith (1-1) allowed two runs and four hits over six innings in his second major-league start. He didn’t permit a run after giving up a pair in the first inning.

Justin Masterson (2-4) struck out eight in six innings, but saw his ERA rise to 5.14 after allowing seven earned runs.

GAME NOTEBOOK: The Royals made three errors, but none led to a run. They turned a pair of double plays. ... Cleveland’s Asdrubal Cabrera, out since May 25 with a hamstring injury, returned and went 1-for-4. Cabrera was given the green light to play after taking early batting practice and served as the designated hitter. ... It was a rare hitless night against the Royals for Jason Kipnis, who entered the game 10-for-24 against them. Kipnis was 0-for-3, but scored a run after a walk. ... Kansas City left-hander Danny Duffy had Tommy John surgery postponed because of strep throat. Doctors want the infection to clear up before operating.
