Recap

White Sox 7, Twins 4: Paul Konerko had the first of Chicago’s three home runs, sparking an early offensive blitz as the host White Sox snapped their five-game losing streak.

Konerko gave the White Sox a 3-1 cushion in the bottom of the first inning with a three-run blast to right field against Francisco Liriano (3-10). The Twins cut it to 3-2 in the second when Brian Dozier scored on a wild pitch, but Adam Dunn and Alex Rios broke it open with two-run homers in the third.

Dunn’s home run was his 29th of the year, giving him sole possession of the major league lead.

Gavin Floyd (8-8) got the win despite walking six batters in six innings of work. He also gave up six hits but was helped by a defense that turned five double plays behind him to make up for three errors.

Ryan Doumit hit a solo home run off Jesse Crain in the eighth inning to bring Minnesota within three runs, but the visitors could get no closer. Addison Reed worked around a leadoff double by Denard Span in the ninth inning to finish the game off.

The Twins did not collect an RBI on any of their first three runs. Span scored in the first inning on a double play and Ben Revere came home in the fifth when Alejandro De Aza committed an error on a base hit by Joe Mauer.
