Recap
Brewers 1, White Sox 0: Rickie Weeks'
RBI single in the top of the 10th inning gave Zack Greinke and Milwaukee the win in a pitchers’ duel with Chris Sale.
Aramis Ramirez led off the extra frame with a double against Chicago reliever Jesse Crain (1-1). After pinch runner Nyjer Morgan took third on a one-out wild pitch, Weeks rapped a 2-2 pitch into left field to plate the decisive run.
John Axford worked around a leadoff walk in the bottom of the 10th to notch his 13th save in relief of Greinke (8-2), who yielded just three hits and a walk in nine innings.
Chicago did not advance a runner past first base all night, with the Brewers turning four double plays to erase runners at second. The last of those came in the 10th inning, when Gordon Beckham drew a leadoff walk. Paul Konerko grounded into a double play to end the game after Adam Dunn struck out.
Sale was just as strong in his eight innings, scattering four hits and a walk while striking out seven. He threw 109 pitches before giving way to Addison Reed, who pitched a perfect ninth.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Brewers LF Ryan Braun extended his hitting streak to 16 games with a fourth-inning single. ... Chicago fell to 1-5 in extra-inning games, including a 0-3 mark at home. ... Greinke went nine innings in a game for the first time since 2010. ... Sale has seven consecutive starts with at least six strikeouts, the longest streak by a White Sox pitcher in 25 years.
