White Sox 7, Cubs 4: John Danks pitched 6 1/3 scoreless innings and Dayan Viciedo drove in three runs as the White Sox beat the Cubs for the sixth time in the last seven meetings.

Danks (3-4) retired the first 13 batters he faced before giving up a one-out double to Alfonso Soriano in the fifth inning. The Cubs got two more hits leading off the sixth, but Danks kept the shutout bid intact by striking out Darwin Barney and getting Starlin Castro to hit into a double play.

The left-hander departed after striking out Bryan LaHair to open the seventh inning, his fourth of the night. Danks allowed three hits and a walk.

Soriano finally got the Cubs on the board with a two-out, two-run homer off Zach Stewart in the ninth inning, his third hit of the game. Joe Mather added another two-run shot before Koyie Hill grounded out to end the comeback bid.

Viciedo hit a two-run homer in the third inning against Ryan Dempster (0-2), and A.J. Pierzynski followed with a solo shot to give the visitors a 4-0 lead. The White Sox had opened the scoring on Viciedo’s first-inning RBI single.

The White Sox pulled away with three runs in the eighth inning. Adam Dunn hit a leadoff home run and Alexei Ramirez added an RBI single before Alejandro De Aza capped the scoring by drawing a two-out bases-loaded walk.

Dempster, still looking for his first win of the year, matched a season high by allowing four runs on seven hits in six innings. He struck out three and allowed three walks.
