Recap

Astros 6, Phillies 4: Jed Lowrie smashed a two-run, go-ahead double into the right-center field gap in the eighth inning as host Houston ended Philadelphia’s seven-game winning streak.

Brandon Barnes followed with a run-scoring single as the Astros scored three runs with two outs in the eighth to overcome a 4-3 deficit. Matt Dominguez slammed a three-run homer in the fourth for Houston’s other runs.

Philadelphia is four games behind the St. Louis Cardinals for the National League’s second wild card after squandering a four-run lead. Erik Kratz had a run-scoring double in the first, while John Mayberry Jr. and Kevin Frandsen had run-scoring singles and Ryan Howard hit a sacrifice fly during a three-run third.

Houston’s Wesley Wright (1-2) got the final two outs of the eighth and Wilton Lopez induced Domonic Brown to bounce into a game-ending double play for his fifth save.

Philadelphia’s Phillippe Aumont (0-1) allowed the decisive hit to Lowrie.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Phillies SS Jimmy Rollins stole third base in the eighth for his 400th career theft. … Astros reliever Mickey Storey expects to return in a few days after taking a line drive off the side of his face Wednesday against the Chicago Cubs. Storey suffered a bruise but avoided serious injury. … Frandsen started for the first time since injuring an ankle on Sept 4.
