Phillies 4, Brewers 3: John Mayberry Jr. and Erik Kratz belted back-to-back homers in the second inning and Cole Hamels tossed 7 2/3 solid frames as Philadelphia snapped Milwaukee's eight-game home winning streak.
Ryan Howard added an RBI double among his two hits and improved to 6-for-13 in the series for the Phillies, who snapped a three-game losing skid. The victory was Philadelphia's fourth in six meetings with Milwaukee.
Ryan Braun homered for the fourth time this series for his National League-leading 33rd blast. The reigning National League MVP's two-run shot to right field ended the evening for Hamels (14-6) before onathan Papelbon struck out three of the four batters he faced for his 27th save.
Hamels saw his scoreless innings streak end at 23 after Aramis Ramirez's solo homer in the second.
Mayberry opened the scoring by depositing an inside fastball from rookie Mike Fiers (6-6) over the left-field wall for a two-run shot. Kratz followed Mayberry's 10th homer by crushing a towering blast into the second deck in left field.
Fiers permitted four runs with as many walks in five innings to take the loss.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Braun is 13-for-23 (.565) with six homers and two doubles versus Philadelphia this season. He also collected his 20th stolen base of the season in the sixth inning. ... Hamels' career-best scoreless streak is 25 innings, set from Aug. 24-Sept. 8, 2010. ... Milwaukee recorded its 14th sellout of the season as 43,386 were in attendance at Miller Park.
