Recap
Phillies 5, Rockies 1: Cole Hamels pitched eight strong innings and Hunter Pence crushed a three-run homer as visiting Philadelphia beat Colorado for the second consecutive contest.
Hamels (11-4) allowed one run and six hits while winning for the first time since June 19. He struck out seven and walked one.
Pence slammed a three-run homer deep into the left-field seats at Coors Field off Drew Pomeranz (1-4) in the fifth inning to stake the Phillies to a 5-0 lead.
Colorado’s lone run off Hamels came when Marco Scutaro drew a one-out walk in the sixth and scored on Carlos Gonzalez’s booming triple off the base of the left-center field fence.
Antonio Bastardo worked a flawless ninth in a non-save situation.
Carlos Ruiz had a run-scoring single in the first and Placido Polanco hit a sacrifice fly in the fourth for Philadelphia.
Pomeranz allowed five runs and five hits in five innings. He struck out five and walked two.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Philadelphia 1B Ryan Howard and 2B Chase Utley were both rested Sunday. Both stars recently returned from injuries … Rockies OF Dexter Fowler had two hits for his sixth multihit game in seven contests. He is 13-for-28 during the stretch … Phillies RHP Roy Halladay will come off the disabled list to start Tuesday’s game against Los Angeles. He has been out since May 28 with a right lat strain … Colorado catcher Ramon Hernandez went 0-for-4 and has batted cleanup in both his appearances since returning from a hand injury.
