Phillies 2, Padres 0: Vance Worley struck out a career-high 11 batters in seven scoreless innings to lead visiting Philadelphia to its 12th consecutive win at Petco Park.

Worley allowed only four hits to help the Phillies snap a two-game losing streak despite scoring only five runs in the last 29 innings.

Chad Qualls pitched a scoreless eighth before Jonathan Papelbon pitched around a leadoff walk in the ninth to record his fourth save in as many chances.

Padres rookie Joe Wieland (0-2) was a hard-luck loser in his second major league start, allowing one run on five hits while striking out seven and walking one.

The Phillies pushed across the only run they would need in the top of the first. Juan Pierre drew a leadoff walk, moved to second Placido Polanco's single and an error by Will Venable in left and scored on Jimmy Rollins' sacrifice fly.

Philadelphia, which was blanked in 10 innings at San Francisco on Wednesday, tacked on an insurance run in the ninth when Hunter Pence walked, moved to third on Shane Victorino's single and scored on a passed ball.

The Padres had plenty of scoring chances, beginning when Jeremy Hermida led off the third with a triple, but were unable to get him home.

San Diego also had runners at the corners in the sixth and seventh innings but couldn't push across the equalizer and fell to a major league-worst 3-11.
