Recap

Mets 3, Astros 1: R.A. Dickey tossed seven solid innings to record his 16th victory and Justin Turner homered for the first time in more than a year as host New York snapped a six-game losing skid.

Jason Bay ended an 0-for-14 skid with an RBI single and Dickey also drove in a run for the Mets, who scored more than two runs for the first time since a 6-4 loss to Washington on Aug. 17.

After Dickey's two-out tapper up the first-base line scored the game's first run in the fourth inning, Turner doubled the advantage with his first homer since Aug. 6, 2011. Turner snapped a 258 at-bat homerless drought by leading off the sixth inning with a blast off reliever Mickey Storey that sailed over the wall in left field.

Dickey (16-4) yielded just one run on five hits and struck out two to pull into a tie with Washington's Gio Gonzalez, Cincinnati's Johnny Cueto, Tampa Bay's David Price and Los Angeles Angels hurler Jered Weaver with 16 victories. Gonzalez faces the Philadelphia Phillies later on Saturday.

The veteran knuckleballer retired the first 10 batters he faced before former Met Fernando Martinez ripped a single to right field in the fourth inning. Dickey uncorked a wild pitch that allowed Scott Moore to score in the seventh, but induced a double-play ball to end the threat.

Two relievers bridged the gap to Frank Francisco, who retired the side in the ninth inning for his 21st save.

Fernando Abad (0-1) was recalled from Triple-A Oklahoma City to make his first career start. He issued four walks in as many innings to take the loss.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Turner started back-to-back games in place of Daniel Murphy (rest). ... The woeful Astros have dropped 44 of their last 52 games. ... Dickey's run-scoring single accounted for his third RBI of the season. ... Mets C Josh Thole went 0-for-4 to extend his hitless streak to 21 at-bats.
