Recap

Astros 8, Mets 1: Chris Johnson went 4-for-4 with a pair of home runs and six RBIs as host Houston completed a three-game sweep of New York.

Wandy Rodriguez (3-2) pitched seven strong innings and Jed Lowrie added three hits and three runs scored for the Astros, who earned their first series sweep since last August.

Johnson got the Astros on the board in the second, following back-to-back singles by Lowrie and Brian Bogusevic with a towering blast into the left field seats off Chris Schwinden.

Johnson struck again off Schwinden in the third, taking a hanging breaking ball on a 1-0 count and sending it out to left-center for a two-run blast and a 5-0 lead. Johnson, who entered the contest without a home run on the season, completed his first four-hit game since 2010 with an RBI single in the fifth and a single in the seventh.

Schwinden (0-1) was charged with five runs on six hits in four innings. In two starts since moving into Mike Pelfrey’s vacated spot in the rotation, Schwinden has posted an 11.25 ERA.

Houston piled on with a three-run fifth, getting RBI hits from Bogusevic and Jason Castro in addition to Johnson.

Rodriguez struck out five and walked two while allowing one run on six hits.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Lowrie is batting .429 (15-for-35) with three home runs, eight RBIs and eight runs scored in the last nine games. … Ruben Tejada went 3-for-4 for New York - his fourth game in the last six with at least three hits. … Astros CF Jordan Schafer stole his ninth base in the first inning but had to leave in the fifth with lower back tightness.
