Recap
Brewers 8, Marlins 5: Rickie Weeks belted two two-run homers and Corey Hart also had four RBIs as visiting Milwaukee won for the 13th time in 16 games.
Wily Peralta (1-0) pitched into the seventh inning in his first major-league start and second big-league appearance. He was charged with three runs and five hits in six-plus innings.
Weeks and Hart both hit two-run homers in the seventh to give the Brewers a five-run edge. After Miami battled back within one run, Hart lined a two-run double down the left-field line in the ninth to give Milwaukee a cushion.
John Axford got the final three outs for his 25th save in 33 opportunities.
Weeks clubbed a two-run homer in the third off Marlins starter Nathan Eovaldi (4-11) to give the Brewers a 2-0 lead.
After Miami got on the board in the fifth on John Buck’s run-scoring single, Weeks connected off reliever Tom Koehler with a shot to left in the seventh for his sixth career multi-homer contest.
Hart belted his homer later in the seventh to give Milwaukee a 6-1 edge but the Marlins responded with four runs in the bottom of the inning. Greg Dobbs, Bryan Peterson and Donovan Solano hit back-to-back-to-back run-scoring singles and Miami moved within a run on a sacrifice fly by Jose Reyes.
Eovaldi allowed two runs and six hits in five innings for Miami, which has lost six of seven games.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Weeks is 15-for-31 (.484) during a seven-game hitting streak. … Buck had two hits to raise his average to .201, marking the first time he has been above .200 since May 15. … Aoki went 1-for-4 to extend his hitting streak to nine games. … Marlins OF Logan Morrison underwent surgery to repair a torn patellar tendon in his right knee.
