Recap

Marlins 5, Cardinals 3: John Buck and Logan Morrison hit back-to-back solo homers in the seventh inning as host Miami rallied to salvage the series finale.

Morrison’s blast off Sam Freeman (0-1), which was upheld after instant replay, snapped a 3-3 tie and sent Miami to just its fourth win in the last 21 games. The Marlins also ended an eight-game skid against the Cardinals.

Catcher Tony Cruz’s first career homer put St. Louis on top 3-2 in the seventh, but his counterpart, Buck, promptly tied it with a solo shot in the bottom half off Fernando Salas.

Morrison then drove one over the fence in right, but it hit a railing and bounced back into play. It originally was ruled a double.

Anibal Sanchez (4-6) pitched seven innings to notch his first win in a month. Cardinals rookie Joe Kelly went six innings, allowing two runs on five hits.

Omar Infante had an eighth-inning RBI double for Miami, which snapped St. Louis' season-high five-game winning streak.

Carlos Beltran hit a sacrifice fly and David Freese ripped a run-scoring double down the left-field line to give St. Louis a 2-0 first-inning lead. But Miami right fielder Giancarlo Stanton threw out Freese at the plate on Matt Carpenter’s single.

Infante and Gaby Sanchez walked leading off the fifth, and Buck came through with an RBI single. Jose Reyes’ RBI grounder tied it 2-2.

GAME NOTEBOOK:
Matt Holliday hit his 18th double, his 12th hit in the last six games. ... Buck's homer traveled an estimated 411 feet. ... Heath Bell tossed the ninth for his 15th save - and his first since June 16..
