Recap
Braves 6, Padres 0: Tim Hudson pitched 6 1/3 shutout innings and Dan Uggla and Martin Prado homered as host Atlanta snapped a two-game losing streak.
The Braves had lost consecutive games for the first time since July 22-23, but improved to 16-4 in games started by Hudson this season. Hudson (12-4) surrendered just two hits with one walk and four strikeouts.
Uggla hit his 14th homer of the season leading off the fifth, a solo shot to left off San Diego starter Clayton Richard (9-12). Prado added his sixth of the season with two outs the seventh, giving the Braves a 6-0 advantage.
The Braves jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first as Michael Bourn hit a leadoff triple to right-center field. One out later, Freddie Freeman drove home Bourn on a groundout to first.
After Uggla hit just his third homer since June 10, Atlanta pushed its lead to 3-0 in the sixth on Chipper Jones’ single to center, scoring Prado.
