Recap

Blue Jays 6, Athletics 5: Edwin Encarnacion swatted a two-run homer to spark a comeback as visiting Toronto salvaged a split of its four-game series with Oakland.

Yunel Escobar had a two-run single and Anthony Gose and Kelly Johnson each had two hits and an RBI to give the Blue Jays their second straight win following a six-game losing streak.

Toronto left-hander Aaron Laffey (3-2) overcame a wobbly start and went six innings, allowing four runs on six hits. Casey Janssen worked around a one-out walk in the ninth for his 14th save and first since July 14.

Tommy Milone (9-9) suffered another rough outing, losing his third straight start, yielding six runs on nine hits in six innings and falling to the Blue Jays for the second time in 12 days.

Josh Reddick staked the Athletics to a 4-1 with a three-run homer in the third, but Encarnacion went deep in the  fourth for his 29th homer. Toronto went ahead with a three-run sixth, scoring all of their runs with two outs on Escobar's two-run single and Johnson's RBI single for a 6-4 lead.

Toronto's Rajai Davis had two hits to extend his hitting streak to 10 games and scored from second base on a sacrifice bunt in the first inning.

Notebook: Blue Jays RHP Carlos Villanueva left the team for personal reasons and will miss at least one start. Recently acquired LHP J.A. Happ will take Villanueva's spot for Tuesday's start against Tampa Bay. ... The Blue Jays optioned RHP Jesse Chavez to Triple-A. ... Oakland put RHP A.J. Griffin (shoulder) on the 15-day DL. ... The Athletics recalled LHP Pedro Figueroa and RHP Evan Scribner, who both pitched in Sunday's loss, and are hoping Brandon McCarthy is ready to take Griffin's spot on Friday. ... Toronto recalled RHP Chad Jenkins, the club's top pick in the 2009 draft, from Double-A New Hampshire.
