Recap
White Sox 4, Blue Jays 3: Orlando Hudson singled home the winning run with two outs in the ninth inning and host Chicago avoided a three-game sweep.
Hudson singled to center off Toronto closer Francisco Cordero (1-3) to plate Dayan Viciedo as the White Sox snapped a modest two-game losing streak and moved 1 1/2 games ahead of Cleveland atop the American League Central.
Alex Rios belted a two-run homer and drove in three runs for the White Sox, who averted being swept at home by the Blue Jays for the first time since 1989.
Addison Reed (1-1) earned the victory with a scoreless ninth as Chicago ended Toronto's three-game winning streak.
White Sox starter Jake Peavy allowed three runs on four hits and walked a season-high five in six-plus innings.
Toronto starter Henderson Alvarez had his best outing in nearly a month, allowing three runs on seven hits in seven innings, but saw his winless streak reach five starts.
The Blue Jays erased an early one-run deficit with a three-run second inning, highlighted by Mike McCoy's two-run single in his first at-bat of the year.
Chicago tied it at 3-3 in the sixth when Paul Konerko singled with one out and Rios followed with his sixth homer that barely cleared the wall in left field.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Rios recorded his sixth multi-hit game in the last eight. ... Blue Jays OF Rajai Davis missed the game with a jammed middle finger on his left hand. ... Konerko, who leads the majors with a .371 batting average, had two hits in his return to the lineup after missing two games with an injury. ... The Blue Jays face a tough interleague test with a three-game series at Atlanta while the White Sox will host the Houston Astros.
