Recap
Mariners 9, Blue Jays 5 (10): Michael Saunders belted a 10th-inning grand slam, his second homer of the game, as visiting Seattle moved over .500 with its fourth straight win.
Trailing 5-3 after eight, Seattle rallied against Blue Jays closer
Francisco Cordero. Following Saunders' solo homer and two errors,
pinch-hitter John Jaso delivered an RBI single to tie it. Seattle strung three singles together against Luis Perez (2-1) in the 10th before Saunders' heroics.
The Mariners won for only the second time in their last 10 games in Toronto. The Blue Jays have dropped four straight.
Toronto starter Ricky Romero didn’t give up a hit until Dustin Ackley doubled leading off the sixth. But he could not protect the 3-1 lead he took to the seventh. Jesus Montero hit a solo homer, and Casper Wells’ RBI double tied it.
Eric Thames hit his second homer of the season to give Toronto a 4-3 eighth-inning lead. The Jays tacked on another run on J.P. Arencibia's sacrifice fly.
Designated hitter Edwin Encarnacion blasted his fifth homer to give the Jays a 1-0 lead in the second.
Seattle starter Blake Beavan went 5 2/3 innings, allowing seven hits and three earned runs.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Seattle is 4-0 on a 10-game road trip that began in Detroit. ... Encarnacion added his seventh double. ... Each team used seven pitchers.
