Recap

Marlins 4, Rays 3: Scott Cousins delivered the tiebreaking triple in the 15th inning as visiting Miami snapped an eight-game losing streak against Tampa Bay.

Former Rays outfielder Justin Ruggiano smashed a one-out double off the right-field wall and scored easily on Cousins’ triple off Brandon Gomes (1-2) as the Marlins halted a three-game losing skid and won for just the second time in 11 games.

Cousins, who was recalled by the Marlins on Friday, had his first three hits of the season as Miami improved to 1-4 against its in-state rival this season.

Ryan Webb (3-1) threw three scoreless innings and Heath Bell struck out the side in the 15th to record his 14th save in 18 opportunities.

Tampa Bay battled back from a 3-0 deficit to knot the score on Sean Rodriguez’s two-out triple in the seventh.

Jose Reyes, who had three hits, scored Miami’s first-inning run and boosted the lead to 3-0 with a two-run single to left-center field against Rays starter James Shields.

Tampa Bay cut its deficit to 3-1 in the third when Elliot Johnson tripled and scored on Jose Molina’s single. Molina added a fifth-inning homer to make it a one-run game.

Shields didn’t allow an earned run in 7 2/3 innings, as two errors set up the first three Miami runs. He allowed eight hits and one walk and struck out five.

Marlins starter Anibal Sanchez gave up three runs and four hits in 6 1/3 innings. He struck out six and walked three.

Sanchez allowed a leadoff single to Carlos Pena in the seventh before leaving one out later, and Pena scored on Rodriguez’s triple against Steve Cishek.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Marlins third baseman Hanley Ramirez was back in the lineup despite a broken bone in the bridge of his nose and went 2-for-8. Ramirez missed Friday’s game after being struck with a baseball during batting practice. … Shields’ outing was his longest since going eight or more innings in three straight April starts. … Sanchez is 1-5 over his last seven starts. … Molina has three two-hit games this season, two coming against Miami.
