Rays 4, Marlins 2: Elliot Johnson belted a two-run homer and James Shields tossed 6 1/3 solid innings as visiting Tampa Bay cruised to its seventh consecutive victory over its Sunshine State rival.
After going 4-for-5 in Saturday's 13-4 triumph, Johnson deposited a curveball from Anibal Sanchez (3-5) into the bullpen in right-center field during the fourth inning.
Matt Joyce also went deep in the fourth and B.J. Upton had an RBI double for the AL East-leading Rays, who have won four straight.
Shields (7-4) snapped a three-game losing skid by allowing just one run on four hits with five strikeouts. Two relievers bridged the gap to Fernando Rodney, who retired the side in the ninth for his 18th save.
Entering the contest on an 0-for-18 slide, Logan Morrison went 3-for-4 with an RBI single. Gaby Sanchez, recalled from Triple-A New Orleans prior to the game, plated Morrison with an RBI double as the Marlins matched a season-high with their sixth straight setback.
Anibal Sanchez suffered his fifth loss in six starts after permitting four runs on seven hits in six innings.
