Recap

Blue Jays 7, Rays 3: Adam Lind went 3-for-3 with three RBIs as host Toronto capitalized on a forgettable night from Tampa Bay third baseman Evan Longoria.

Longoria - a two-time Gold Glove winner - committed three errors, including two fielding errors in the third inning, which opened the door for three runs on a sacrifice fly from Jose Bautista and a two-run home run from Lind.

Longoria was charged with his third error of the game on a throw to first in the sixth inning, allowing Bautista to score and boost the lead to 5-2.

Bautista opened scoring in the first with a solo shot to left field for his second home run of the season.

Lind added an RBI single in the seventh and Brett Lawrie put the game out of reach with a solo home run to center in the eighth.

Ricky Romero (2-0) went six solid innings, giving up three runs on eight hits while striking out four and walking three.

Tampa Bay lost for the fifth time in the last six games and dropped just its third loss in its last 10 meetings with Toronto.

Reid Brignac and Chris Gimenez trimmed the lead to two runs with back-to-back RBI singles in the top of the fifth.

The Rays climbed within two again on Matt Joyce’s lead-off home run in the seventh.

Jeff Niemann (0-2) gave up one earned run on three hits in five innings, striking out five and walking one batter.

GAME NOTEBOOK:
Bautista homered off Niemann in his first at-bat the last time he faced him (Sept. 24, 2011). … Longoria’s three errors tied the Rays’ team record. … Carlos Pena had three hits – two on bunts.
