Recap

Angels 5, Yankees 1:
Albert Pujols clubbed a two-run home run and Mark Trumbo added a solo blast to power host Los Angeles to its eighth consecutive victory.

Dan Haren (3-5) allowed one run and struck out seven in seven-plus innings to win his second straight start and improve to 6-1 lifetime against New York.

Yankees left-hander Andy Pettitte (2-2) had his two-start winning streak halted, surrendering five runs on nine hits in seven-plus innings.

The Angels (26-25) moved above .500 for the first time since winning their season opener and dealt New York its second straight loss following a five-game winning streak.

Angels closer Ernesto Frieri loaded the bases on two walks and a hit batsman in the ninth before striking out Robinson Cano to end the game.

Los Angeles jumped on Pettitte with three runs in the third. Rookie Mike Trout tripled home the first run before Pujols hit his eighth homer of the season and fifth in the last eight games.

Nick Swisher's RBI single in the fourth cut the deficit to 3-1, but Trumbo launched his third homer in as many games in the sixth inning, a mammoth 443-foot blast to center field off Pettitte.

Alex Rodriguez had three hits and Derek Jeter had a pair for the Yankees, who fell to 0-11 in games in which they failed to homer.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Pettitte has surrendered two home runs in three of his four starts. ... The Angels placed ace pitcher Jered Weaver on the 15-day disabled list Tuesday. Weaver was diagnosed with a lower back strain, spasms and inflammation in one of his discs. Weaver had to leave Monday's game after throwing only 12 pitches. RHP Garrett Richards was recalled from Triple-A Salt Lake and will start Sunday against Texas. ... Jeter lifted his average to .338. He has hits in 40 of 48 games. ... Angels RF Torii Hunter was activated from the restricted list Tuesday, one day after rejoining the team. He has missed 15 games since his 17-year-old son was charged with sexual assault in Texas. ... Trout was drafted by the Angels with a draft pick they received from New York as compensation for signing Mark Teixeira to an eight-year free-agent contract.
