Recap

Blue Jays 4, Yankees 1
: Jose Bautista and J.P. Arencibia each hit two-run homers and rookie Drew Hutchison tossed six strong innings as host Toronto completed a two-game sweep.

Bautista has five homers in the last seven contests for the Blue Jays, who moved into third place ahead of a New York club that has lost three straight games.

Hutchison (3-1) allowed one run and five hits in six innings in his second consecutive strong start for the Blue Jays.

Jason Frasor, Darren Oliver and Casey Janssen all pitched perfect innings of relief with Janssen recording his third save.

Yunel Escobar led off the third with a single before Bautista drilled his 10th homer of the season off New York’s Phil Hughes (3-5) to give Toronto a 2-1 lead.

Bautista singled in the seventh and scored on Arencibia’s blast into the left-field seats to give the Blue Jays a three-run lead.

New York struck in the first when Curtis Granderson drew a one-out walk and scored on Robinson Cano’s double to left-center field.

Toronto’s Yan Gomes had two hits in his major-league debut.

Hughes allowed two runs and seven hits in 5 1/3 innings.

GAME NOTEBOOK:
Toronto third baseman Brett Lawrie dropped his appeal and began serving a four-game suspension tied to his ejection and helmet-throwing tirade after being called out on strikes by umpire Bill Miller on Tuesday. … Granderson had two of New York’s five hits for his first multiple-hit game since May 6. … The Blue Jays hit six homers in the two-game series. … Yankees catcher Russell Martin was hitless in three at-bats and is buried in a 2-for-28 slump.
