Recap

Athletics 6, Red Sox 1: Former Red Sox players Brandon Moss and Josh Reddick homered and rookie Jarrod Parker pitched 6 2/3 strong innings as host Oakland jumped on Boston starter Daisuke Matsuzaka – who faced only nine batters – for five runs.

Parker (5-3) improved to 3-0 in his last four starts and defeated the Red Sox for the second time. He allowed one run and five hits and has yielded only 10 earned runs in his last 52 2/3 innings (1.71 ERA).

Matsuzaka (0-3), who was winless in five starts since returning from Tommy John surgery, allowed a solo homer by Reddick in the first inning and a three-run shot by Moss in the second, his second homer in as many games.

Matsuzaka left after allowing the first five batters to reach in the second inning. He yielded five runs, four hits and walked two.

Reddick and Brandon Inge added sacrifice flies as Oakland defeated Boston for the third time in four games this season.

Dustin Pedroia recorded two hits - including an RBI single in the first inning - for Boston, which has lost 12 of its last 16 games at Oakland. Adrian Gonzalez went 1-for-4 to extend his hitting streak to 13 games.

Oakland rookie reliever Sean Doolittle retired all seven batters he faced, striking out three.

Boston's Clayton Mortensen relieved Matsuzaka and allowed one run in five innings.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Parker is one of two pitchers (Dwight Gooden in 1984) to allow one run or less in nine of his first 13 starts. … Boston has scored only 10 runs in the first five games of its road trip. … Red Sox DH David Ortiz hasn’t homered in five games since belting No. 399 on Wednesday. … Pedroia has two straight two-hit games. … Parker’s first career victory came at Boston on May 1.
